About Joe

Joe Baiardo was born and raised in Hamilton where he attended Christ The King and Holy Family elementary schools. Joe graduated from St. Mary’s High School and then went on to graduate with a Political Science/Public Policy degree from York University. At every level, Joe has shown leadership as Vice-President of his student Councils and as the Director of Services and Communications at York’s central student government.

Joe and his wife Maria, of 25 years, have three children, Samuel, Sarah and Andrea, all products of our Catholic Schools. In fact, the Baiardos started their family in Ward 6 and were an integral part of St. Margaret Mary School and Parish. Mr. Baiardo served on the St. Margaret Mary School Council and the Parish Council, a lector and was actively involved in the Highview Park restoration committee at the time. He also coached T-ball in the neighbourhood and soccer for over 10 years at the Quinndale Community soccer league in the St. Kateri neighbourhood.

Mr. Baiardo has also had the honour as serving as a Catholic School Trustee in Ward 5 for seven years (where he had the distinct honour to serve with Fr. Kennedy), and currently serving as Catholic School Trustee in Ward 6 since 2014. As a Trustee, Mr. Baiardo had to manage the difficult and challenging task of school closures and the joys of school renovation and rejuvenation. He served on the Special Education Advisory Committee and the School Uniform Sub-committee, to name a few. He continues to serve our Board as a Parent advisor on the OYAP Advisory Committee. His and Samuel’s experience is actually featured in the book: Doing what you love and Loving what you do, a parent’s perspective.

Joe has served on numerous committees and volunteer Charity Boards over the years including the Good Shepherd Harvest Dinner Committee and has shown great leadership as President of the Catholic Family Services Board of Directors and as President of the Cancer Assistance Program on the Mountain. Recently he has served as Chair of the Festitalia Corporation and is an executive member of the Sons of Italy Board.

Professionally, Mr. Baiardo was one of the first corporate hires of the St. Joseph’s Health Care system in 1993 which was followed as Owner/operator of his Management Consulting firm. Over the past 13 years Joe has and continues to work as the Manager of his Great-West Life team at Ford of Canada and is a Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. Through his work Joe also serves on a number of professional provincial committees and is well respected throughout.

Joe is still involved in the Knights of Columbus, St. Margaret Mary Parish and is a proud long standing supporter/sponsor of the Bishop’s Charities Dinner. He continues to serve as a reader at Church and is an active player on the Sons of Italy Soccer Team where he’s been recognized with a player of the year and sportsmanship award. Mr. Baiardo is the recent recipient of the Italian Heritage Award in Hamilton in recognition of his numerous contributions to the community.
